Climate change poses a grave and urgent threat to the entire planet. The consequences — natural disasters like the Los Angeles wildfires, rising food insecurity, violent conflict, increased migration — are intensifying before our eyes. How can we confront these challenges? Are “eco-authoritarian” responses the best way forward, or is more democracy the answer? In the new issue of the Journal of Democracy, leading scholars debate how to solve the climate crisis.

On paper, Zulfat Suara and Steve Happ don’t have much in common. One, a Muslim woman, immigrated to the U.S. from Nigeria in the 1990s and now serves on the Nashville City Council. The other, a Christian man, is a Memphis native with a background in software who began a ministry partnering with Ugandan non-profit charities that care for orphaned and at-risk children in 2015.

I recently had hernia surgery. A very routine operation. I was in the operating room about 20 minutes. When I came to I was served a slice of toast and some fruit juice (about $50 worth). Within an hour I was discharged. My bill: $11,000!That was the second time I had that surgery. The first time - in 1958 - I was 8 years old. At that time I spent six days recovering in the hospital. I don't recall the dollar amount, but when we got the bill my dad wrote out a check and payed for the whole thing.

Jordan, I would say you’re - doing it and doing it and doing it well.

I’m a survivor. A Brain Tumor survivor, to be exact. At the age of 11, I was diagnosed with two brain tumors and told there might not be a future for me. Years later, I’m doing better than ever. No migraines since 2005 and advocating for more treatments/research. #gograyinmay 🤍 https://t.co/LJNWWHU6qE

Bill don’t make me cry.

Please shower this man with all the adulation you can. He is one of the nicest, smartest, caring guys I've had the pleasure of working with and we're losing him to the east coast. Love you and will miss you @KCTVPhotog_Ross!!!!!
