STUARTS DRAFT, Va. (WHSV) - Due to a training exercise, the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office will have a law enforcement presence in and near Schneider Park in Stuarts Draft on Tuesday morning. According to an ACSO release, the training will start at 8 a.m. and last until around 4 p.m. The exercise includes the operation and landing of a helicopter within the park. ACSO asks the public to stay outside of the established boundaries during the training.

AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) - Fire crews responded to a structure fire just after midnight Monday morning at the Relax Inn off White Hill Road in Augusta County. The initial dispatch call came in at 12:15 a.m., according to a release from Augusta County Fire-Rescue. Upon arrival, Battalion Chief 13 found a fire involving one room and its contents.

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) - The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is warning customers about a text scam in which someone is posing as the DMV and falsely claiming individuals owe money for unpaid traffic tickets. According to a Virginia DMV release, the text entails the scammer “urgently” saying the recipient must pay a fine to avoid the suspension of their license and registration.

Marcus Johansson's NHL career will continue next season with the Minnesota Wild as the NHL veteran signed an affordable one-year, $800,000 contract to remain with the club for the 2025-26 season. According to league sources, Johansson, who would have become a free agent July 1, was being lured by his old Swedish Hockey League club, Färjestad, to potentially end his career where it began in the mid-2000s.
