This year, 2024, marks the 100th anniversary since the first flight around Australia. This story begins and finishes at RAAF Point Cook, on the shore of Melbourne’s Port Philip, with a centenary and 8,500nm in between. The early 20th century was a time of pioneering aviation achievements: the first flight from England to Australia in 1919, across the Atlantic (1919) and around the world (1924).
