    Everyone who goes to a Disney park has certain rides, attractions, and experiences that define their visit. As a kid who loved Walt Disney World the Main Street Electrical Parade was “Disney” to me just as much as Cinderella’s Castle or Spaceship Earth. It felt like my family made sure we watched it every single night we spent at Magic Kingdom. We loved it that much. So when I returned in 2024 after a long time away I really felt the absence of those glowing floats.

    The list of people on the planet most likely to love Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning before actually seeing it went 1) Tom Cruise 2) me. To say the last four installments are some of my favorite movies ever is an understatement. I began my rave, five-star review of Dead Reckoning by calling the franchise “a Hollywood miracle.” So, truly, this personally pains me to say…:deeeeep sigh:…the miracle has ended.

    We’re all suckers (in the best way) for certain story tropes, and during its second season The Last of Us has more than delivered on one of my favorites. The series has featured two incredible scenes, both adaptions from the video game, where someone in a horrible situation expresses their humanity by singing. Why does this particular trope always work on me when done even marginally well, let alone as beautifully as it has been done on The Last of Us?
