    St. Canice’s PS (Feeny) were worthy winners of the 2025 Fr. Jack Gallagher Memorial Cup at a sun-kissed Faughanvale GAC grounds on Friday last, beating neighbours Claudy in a close final in a tournament that saw over 300 primary school pupils from the city and county take part in an excellent day’s football. The annual tournament, sponsored by Braidwater Homes, saw 24 teams taking part in Friday’s event, producing some fine football, with fantastic goals and points scored.

The Oak Leafers' penultimate assignment is a trip to Dungannon on Saturday (1pm) to face a Tyrone side still seeking their first victory of the championship.

    ​On Saturday a group of 10 intrepid Derry and Donegal folk will set off to cycle the length of Ireland in a bid to raise money for Medical Aid for Palestine. The locals were moved to act by the horrific images coming out of Gaza almost daily and plan to use their journey from Malin Head to Mizen Head to raise much needed funds to ease the suffering of the thousands who have been injured or displaced, with one hundred per cent of monies raised going directly to the aid effort.

    St. Joseph’s Boys School head to Belfast this morning (Wednesday) with the Danny Blanchflower Stadium the destination and victory over a strong Clounagh Junior High School, Portadown in mind as they hope to bring the U-14 N.I. Plate back to Derry. The St. Joseph’s boys are confident after success in the earlier rounds and convincing victories over Strabane Academy, St Brigid’s College, Glastry College, St Pius’ Magherafelt, and St Malachy’s.

    ​Manager Paddy Tally says Derry should relish their place in the All Ireland's 'Group of Death' after last week's draw handed the Oak Leafers the hardest possible route to the Sam Maguire knock-out stages. The Oak Leafers will come up against Dublin, Connacht champions Galway and the loser of Saturday's Ulster final between Armagh and Donegal in an all Division One group that pits Derry as rank outsiders.
