Memory B cells (MBCs) underlie long-lived humoral immunity and are key to the efficacy of prime-boost vaccines. Wang et al. find that MBCs differ in their recall ability and that expression of the transcription regulator ZFP318, which regulates expression of mitochondrial genes, defines MBCs with high recall ability.
