When the Reed Union School District Parent Teacher Association needs a volunteer, parent Jessica Etchevers is one of the first to step up. “She is one of those people with a helium arm that constantly rises to volunteer,” says Mickey Hubbell, the district PTA president. “I have never seen her back down.”Over the past eight years, Etchevers, 45, has held a variety of volunteer roles within the district.

Marianne Parsons planned on relaxing after retiring from a career that included more than a decade working a teacher’s aide at Reed Elementary School and an overlapping 28-year stint working in retail at Macy’s in Corte Madera. However, her passion for pets led her in another direction.
