It’s time to check in with another bi-monthly money diary, and I’m looking forward to reflecting on how I’ve managed my finances. It’s the week before payday and I’ve been trying to be extra sensible with my spending this month, since Eddie and I are off to Japan and South Korea in May! House ‘stuff’ has sucked up most of my disposable income lately – we thought we were getting somewhere and then ended up having to repair a whole wall! – but I’m loving seeing the house come together.

Happy Friday, my loves!It’s been an up-and-down week in my world. I’m COVID-free at last, which meant I got to see humans again, and that’s been a real joy for me. Longer dog walks, time visiting one of my cousins, and being back at the office… All wonderful things! On the other hand, I found out early in the week that I didn’t get the internal job that I recently interviewed for. If I’m honest, for many unprofessional reasons, I wasn’t surprised.

It’s funny, really, because I have never quite been that sort of person or writer that hoards empty notebooks; I’m pretty good at selecting one and running with it until it runs its course. My Traveler’s Notebook, however, has become the stuff of urban legend at Chez Mish.
The Books I Read in March 2025

March was a productive month of reading, buoyed by my beloved library room slowly but surely coming together. In hindsight, perhaps last month was slowly simply because I didn’t have access to my books? It’s much harder to pick a book when you don’t have them to hand! In any case, I made sure that March would be more focused by selecting a birthday month reading list for myself: three reads selected for nostalgia or some other purpose.

Last week marked the incomprehensible milestone of five years since the UK went into lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic. Not to sound like a broken record or like everybody else that is still mildly traumatised by that period, but I really can’t believe five years has passed. It feels like yesterday and another lifetime, all at once. Lockdown was difficult for everybody in different ways and, for me, it changed me irrevocably.

Happy Sundaze, my loves!It’s been another packed week here, and I’ve been so excited to cosy up in my new library room to pen a new Sundaze post. Honestly, I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have this space – my boyfriend is seriously the best human ever. Seven weeks after moving, it’s really lovely to have a room to work from again and store all of my beloved books. Who would’ve known? It’s wildly disruptive to have your things scattered across rooms and houses.
