The next few days will see seasonable weather around the region, but temps will ramp up by Friday and bring elevated heat and fire risk, forecasters said. Temperatures around interior Bay Area and Central Coast areas will warm up by 10 to 20 degrees above average by the end of the week, the National Weather Service said Monday. Two people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash that shut down all northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 101 near the University Avenue exit on Memorial Day, according to Officer Jovita Ojeda of the California Highway Patrol – Redwood City Office. The collision, which involved a white Toyota RAV4, a blue Toyota Camry, a white Tesla and a red Honda, occurred shortly before 2:27 p.m. on Monday, May 26, Ojeda said.

The National Weather Service said Monday morning it could be an unusual week of weather for the middle of May, with strong offshore winds at times. The driver who struck and killed a Menlo-Atherton High School athletic coach while he was riding his bicycle in Atherton on May 7 was operating a garbage truck, Atherton Police Chief Steven McCulley confirmed Friday. The deadly collision occurred at the intersection of Middlefield Road and Prior Lane when the truck turned right and struck Coach Dylan Taylor, who was riding in the designated bicycle lane, McCulley said in his statement.
