Sunshine may mix with heavy clouds for the holiday weekend in North Carolina. Mother's Day is Sunday on May 11 with lots of events planned around the Piedmont Triad. While Triad moms may want to keep a light sweatshirt around for cooler evening conditions, it looks safe to leave umbrellas at home on Saturday. Sunday's rain chances will be around 20% or less with the current storm tracks.

BUT THEY’RE GOING TO BE CLIMBING OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS TOMORROW. WE’RE TALKING HIGHS NEAR 80 IN ADVANCE OF THE NEXT WEATHER SYSTEM. OUR FRONT’S GOING TO BE SWEEPING OUT OF THE NORTH AND WEST, BUT THIS SYSTEM HERE DOWN ACROSS NEW THERE. THAT AREA WILL MOVE OUR WAY WITH RISK DEVELOPING WITH A SOUTHWESTERLY LIGHT WIND TOMORROW. SOME THUNDERSTORMS THAT COULD COME IN AND THAT FRONT APPROACHING FROM THE NORTH AND WEST KICKS IN. OUR RAIN CHANCES FOR THE AFTERNOON.

AT 68 DEGREES. WE’RE AT 69 IN DANVILLE, AND WE’VE GOT SOME 70S OUT THERE RIGHT NOW IN WINSTON-SALEM AND GREENSBORO, WARMING INTO THE LOW TO MID 70S TODAY, WHILE WE SEE THIS SYSTEM JUST CONTINUE TO SPIN THAT BIG COMMA SHAPE THAT LOW PULLING AWAY TO THE NORTH AND EAST, IT IS CAUSING SOME SEVERE WEATHER FOR FOLKS AS WE GO UP INTO PENNSYLVANIA TODAY.

YET, BUT GOOD TO PREPARE, BRIAN. IT IS. WE’VE HAD A NUMBER OF 80 DEGREE DAYS ALREADY THIS YEAR, GUYS. NONE IN THE FORECAST THOUGH. FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE, BUT IT’S A GREAT PROGRAM. YOU GOT TO GET THAT AIR MOVING WHEN IT’S HOT AND STIFLING OUTSIDE. 74 DEGREES. HARDLY THAT. YESTERDAY WAS A BEAUTIFUL DAY. TEMPERATURES ARE PRETTY CLOSE TO NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR AND THE AIR IS DRIED OUT.

WEATHER, SOME WARMER TEMPERATURES. YOU KNOW, WE HAD SOME 80S OVER THE LAST WEEK, BUT NOW WE’RE KIND OF ROLLING INTO MAY AND MORE MAY LIKE TEMPERATURES EVEN FOR MOTHER’S DAY. WE’RE LOOKING AT QUICK AHEAD HERE AS WE HEAD INTO SUNDAY. IT’S GOING TO BE REALLY COMFORTABLE. I’M HOPEFUL THAT WE DON’T HAVE TOO MUCH UNSETTLED WEATHER, BECAUSE IT DOES LOOK LIKE WE’LL HAVE THAT PATTERN THAT BRINGING THOSE MAY FLOWERS ALSO MIGHT INCLUDE SOME SHOWERS.
