Among the most upsetting phrases to hear during pregnancy, “Just wait” reigned supreme as my least favorite. “You think you’re tired now? Just wait,” they said. “You don’t have time to tackle your to-do list? Just wait.” There is truly nothing so invalidating as hearing that the difficult experience you are currently navigating pales in comparison to the torment that lies ahead.

In the early aughts, I roamed my high school halls toting a 1.5-liter bottle of water that I dutifully chugged, refilled and drained again. As an impressionable teen who committed magazine tips to memory, I did not take hydration recommendations lightly.

I wrote my first book about a stuffed animal in 1993 for a niche audience (my mom), and it is now time for my literary follow-up. A million thank yous to agent extraordinaire Fernanda Martinez, editorial guiding light @mayalfernandez, and my new publishing home, @BeaconPressBks. https://t.co/6AFLBAXXSV

I’ve had one whole baby since I published anything major. Why not start with the most vulnerability hangover-inducing content imaginable? https://t.co/159E85b8oY Thank you so much @amymarturana, @christasgobba, and @SELFmagazine 🩷 #postpartum #postpartumbody #edrecovery
