Ah, commitment. Some of us thrive in it, and some of us fear it. There’s a good chance it will come up in any romantic relationship, but until it does, you never know how the other person feels about it. As for myself, I learned about dating from rom-com movies, which didn’t exactly set me up for reality. After a few real relationships in adulthood, I decided that being with one person was not for me. Eventually, I changed my mind, but it was a rollercoaster I wasn’t prepared for.

For some time now, I have recognized that spending too much time on social media takes a toll on my time, my mental health, and even my sense of self. Despite this realization, I admit that I still find myself scrolling mindlessly, only to realize hours have gone by. I have tried setting a timer on my phone that limits my scrolling, proceeding to hit mute on that timer over and over again. I have also tried to pick up new hobbies to replace my scrolling.

I don’t remember all of the details of the day I met my very first friend, but I remember what it felt like. It was the first week of Kindergarten, and I was a shy kid, so I was likely hiding behind a tree or some other solid object. When my eyes met a classmate who looked just as timid, we instantly felt safe with each other. Since then, I’ve learned that comfort is how many of us feel when we’re around our best friend. But those instant connections made on the playground don’t always last.

From romantic books to rom-com movies, the enemies-to-lovers romance remains a timeless way for two characters to fall in love. It’s hard not to look away from the page or screen when characters who absolutely despised each other finally admit they caught feelings. Newer shows like Bridgerton have perfected this trope, especially in the love story of Kate and Anthony. But enemies-to-lovers has been a thing that’s drawn our attention and pulled our heartstrings for centuries.

When I think of the fall season, I immediately think of Gilmore Girls. Throwing on an episode is like taking a stroll down Main Street in Stars Hollow, grabbing a warm coffee at Luke’s, and going home for a cozy movie night. The show is always a reliable fall go-to, even if it has some pretty glaring plot holes. While not every show is going to have Lorelai and Rory, there are so many series out there that provide that same cozy fall feeling. After all, there’s nothing quite like a good rewatch.

There’s a little bit of magic in the air as Halloween approaches—in other words, it’s witch season. Growing up, I always wanted to have magical powers, and October increased that feeling tenfold. I lived vicariously through the fictional witches in ’90s and 2000s movies and shows, whether that was the Sanderson sisters, the Owens sisters, or so many other magical icons. While all of these witches had magic in common, each had their own distinct personality and abilities.
