    Ah, commitment. Some of us thrive in it, and some of us fear it. There’s a good chance it will come up in any romantic relationship, but until it does, you never know how the other person feels about it. As for myself, I learned about dating from rom-com movies, which didn’t exactly set me up for reality. After a few real relationships in adulthood, I decided that being with one person was not for me. Eventually, I changed my mind, but it was a rollercoaster I wasn’t prepared for.

    For some time now, I have recognized that spending too much time on social media takes a toll on my time, my mental health, and even my sense of self. Despite this realization, I admit that I still find myself scrolling mindlessly, only to realize hours have gone by. I have tried setting a timer on my phone that limits my scrolling, proceeding to hit mute on that timer over and over again. I have also tried to pick up new hobbies to replace my scrolling.

    I don’t remember all of the details of the day I met my very first friend, but I remember what it felt like. It was the first week of Kindergarten, and I was a shy kid, so I was likely hiding behind a tree or some other solid object. When my eyes met a classmate who looked just as timid, we instantly felt safe with each other. Since then, I’ve learned that comfort is how many of us feel when we’re around our best friend. But those instant connections made on the playground don’t always last.
