    B.C.'s automotive insurance provider is sharing its findings from last year's crash data, which shows non-fatal collisions are up year-over-year. The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) found that there were more than 303,000 crashes in the province in 2024 alone. More than 107,000 of those happened at intersections and led to more than 52,000 injured victims. ICBC spokesperson Brent Shearer tells 1130 NewsRadio that there's a pretty simple reason that B.C. saw more crashes last year.

    B.C. advocates are raising concerns with the federal rollout of financial assistance for Gazans arriving in Canada through a temporary resident visa stream. The government of Canada is providing a direct, one-time payment of $3,000 per adult and $1,500 per child. Some advocates say they think there's a discrepancy between how Palestinians are being treated versus newcomers from other places.     Port Moody police say they arrested a man over the weekend for allegedly repeatedly harassing women in the Moody Centre area. The Port Moody Police Department says it has received numerous reports over the past months, opening several investigations into the allegations. The investigations led police to arrest a suspect and charge him with criminal harassment and uttering threats. The suspect is currently in custody, with his next court appearance set to take place Wednesday. Const.

    Vancouverites can expect two municipal by elections in the coming months after Green Party Coun. Adriane Carr announced her resignation Wednesday. Speaking at City Hall, The Green Party councillor says she took the holidays to consider retirement. Carr says she wanted to spend more time with her family, and has grown frustrated with the ABC Party's governing style. Carr went public months ago about her frustrations working with Mayor Ken Sim and his ABC Vancouver majority.

    For those Canadians who were banking on an extra $250 lining their back pockets come spring, you might need to think again. In a statement to CityNews Vancouver, the Ministry of Finance and Intergovernmental Affairs says the Working Canadians Rebate will be delayed, if it goes ahead at all, due to the proroguing of Parliament.
