    Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo+Juliet is headed to Manchester’s Albert Hall for a one week screening run alongside a live orchestra. Backyard Cinema will bring their screen of the iconic film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes, to the North West for the first time. Alongside candle-lit aisles of the stunning venue, the famous movie soundtrack will be brought to life with a live band and 12-piece choir.

    Judy and Liza, the musical charting the careers and relationship between Hollywood mother and daughter Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli opens in Manchester this month. The Manchester run at Hope Mill Theatre will be followed by a UK tour taking in Abergavenny, Cardiff, Runcorn, Middlesborough, Alnwick, Chequer Mead, Shrewsbury, New Brighton and Leeds.

    Comedian Anthony Jeselnik has announced that he will bring his Anthony Jeselnik, Bones and All tour to Manchester. The stand-up show will take place at Manchester’s O2 Apollo in September, with further dates in London and Glasgow. Jeselnik recently toured over 100 sold-out shows across North America. Now, he brings his new material to the UK as part of a European run. Anthony Jeselnik is a stand-up comedian widely known for his Netflix specials, podcast and Comedy Central roasts.

More than 100,000 fans have witnessed the screenings in London and now an exclusive week of screenings will land at Manchester’s Albert Hall.

    The 30th anniversary of ¡Viva! Festival opens in just a few weeks at HOME Manchester, celebrating Spanish and Latin American cinema. The festival will be made up of 27 features and 10 short films from comedy to drama and documentaries. The 30th anniversary event will also feature pieces from the archive including works from Victor Erice and Juan Antonio Bardem, Argentine feminist Maria Luisa Bemberg and Alex de la Iglesia. 16 of the screenings are UK premieres.
