Sales of hybrid cars have more than doubled in Australia during the past year in a trend that is eating away at the popularity of petrol and diesel vehicles. Hybrid vehicle sales have jumped by as much as 60 per cent in some states and territories and have overtaken growing sales of electric vehicles, according to data released by the Australian Automobile Association.
