And now only four teams remain standing in the epic battle for the Stanley Cup. It’s a Western Rematch, as the Dallas Stars look to take down the Edmonton Oilers. It’s the Carolina Hurricanes versus the defending Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers in the East.

It’s time again for the most wonderful time of the year. The Stanley Cup Playoffs. 16 teams left in the standings. In two weeks, half of those teams will be gone…and so on…and so on…And here we go, yet again, with the World Famous SiriusXM NHL Network Radio Stanley Cup Playoff Prediction Pool. This is the 19th year we’ve gone for silver. There have been 13 different winners over those years. Shane Malloy is the defending champion.

We’re just past the halfway mark of Winter, and that’s traditionally when the National Hockey League takes a breather from the regular season, and attention turns to the annual NHL All-Star Game. Not this time around. As enjoyable as the All-Star Festivities were this time last year in Toronto, the NHL has seen fit to change things up considerably this season, most likely in large part to stoke anticipation for the league’s return to the Winter Olympics 12 months from now.

While the Maple Leafs handled life pretty well without sniper Auston Matthews (out of the lineup due to injury), having him back is nice. He finally scored his first goal since returning in a recent 4-1 win over the Blackhawks, then added two more in a 3-2 win over Nashville. Tonight, Toronto is in Pittsburgh to face a Penguins franchise that is still trying to determine which direction they’re headed in.

Taylor Swift may be in Toronto all this week for a series of mega-concerts, but one of hockey’s reigning superstars also brings his mega-act to Toronto for a marquee matchup with the Maple Leafs. Connor McDavid and crew are off to another slow start this season, though not nearly as bad as last year. They face a Toronto team that recently has had to learn to live life without their reigning megastar, sniper Auston Matthews.
