The California Department of Fish and Wildlife announced on Tuesday that Salmon fishing season in California is being canceled for the third year in a row, it's the first time Salmon Season has been canceled for 3 consecutive years in history. It comes after recommendations from the Pacific Fishery Management Council, recommending California's commercial Salmon season be closed once again due to the continuing fall off of the local salmon population.

The community of Marina came together on Monday, helping to design a new all inclusive playground for the city! Designers from Leather and Associates were joined by community ambassadors for a tour of classrooms at all 3 elementary schools in Marina, speaking with students about what they wanted to see in their community's new park. Students were encouraged to not just give suggestions, but to hand in their own designs for the park, which were all on display on Monday night.

Fire Destroys Prunedale Mobile Home A structure fire in Prunedale on Friday saw flames jump from a mobile home to a barn, doing serious damage to both structures. The fire broke out just before 5 p.m. on dyer road near meridian road. North county fire says the mobile caught on fire while a person was working on the engine. That fire spreading to the nearby barn -- both being called complete losses at the scene.
