There is rarely a day I don’t break out one or more cutting boards in my kitchen. I currently have five: two small and three large ones. That may sound like a lot, but I often wish I had more, considering it’s pretty normal that I reach for one only to discover they’re all in the dishwasher.

Of all the hot sauces in the grocery store, there is one that always reminds me of my mom: Cholula’s Original Hot Sauce. She’s been using it for at least 20 years and says it’s the absolute best. She should know: My mom, along with my dad, used to own a hot sauce cart in the local mall when I was little.

One pantry staple I could never live without is salt. I use it in all its forms: table salt, flaky sea salt, smoked salt, savory salt, popcorn salt, you name it. Despite my love for salt, I couldn’t quite figure out just how much to add to my pasta water.
