I wanted to congratulate the Daily Montanan and John Bruggeman for the excellent commentary on the state of America’s research and development. I wanted to share my personal experience on the subject since I was an R&D scientist for the U.S. Department of Energy for 27 years  and another seven years in the private sector prior to my retirement, so I am very aware of the loss in technological leadership we have suffered.
