El protagonista, Alec Baldwin —en el personaje de un pistolero vengativo que protege a su nieto —, disparó y mató a la responsable de fotografía, la ucraniana Halyna Hutchins, e hirió al director californiano Joel Souza, coautor del guion con Baldwin. La bala no era de fogueo.
