Richmond Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc. (RNHS) was one of two Bay Area nonprofits awarded a $200,000 grant over two years from Bank of America’s Neighborhood Builders program. RNHS has provided housing services to Richmond residents since 1981. The organization develops, acquires, and/or rehabilitates single family homes and housing developments in blighted or vacant lots in order to make them available as affordable homes for rent or purchase to low-income families.

Chevron Fire Department Chief Gregory Bosworth has retired after nearly four decades in the fire service. But the departed chief says the significant industrial fire department that is tasked with keeping people safe at the refinery and also in the community has been left in more than one set of good hands. Succeeding Chief Bosworth are two Chevron Richmond veterans.

By Mike AldaxRegistration recently opened for the Chevron Regional Occupational Program (ROP), and instructor Jay Lloyd is poised to continue his notable win streak in prepping students for lucrative careers. Since joining the free job training program at Chevron Richmond in 2021, 57 of Lloyd’s ROP students have been hired by Chevron. Other students went on to work at other industrial facilities like Phillips 66, Coca-Cola, Clean Harbors and local wastewater treatment plants.

Chevron employees also answered questions from the community and listened to concerns at the town hall, which was hosted by Ceres Policy Research and held at CoBiz in downtown Richmond.
