Mistral AI has released Codestral, the company’s first code model, designed for code generation. Codestral is an open-weight generative AI (GenAI) model designed for code generation tasks. Open-weight models allow developers to build upon and adapt previous work, broadening AI tools’ availability to small companies, according to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration.

Multiple about this year’s RSA Conference (RSAC). I won’t attempt to cover the same ground. Instead, I’ll give some overall impressions and highlights of talking with some of the vendors. This was my first time at this event — something I was reminded of every day. Apparently, it’s a thing — they even gave me a “first year” pin (which I didn’t wear). The need for standardization is all around us, but on occasion, the JavaScript ecosystem — or rather, the tools and services built using JS — have a tendency to stray off course, which can cause disruption in the ecosystem. In this article I’ll be discussing JavaScript clients and SDKs for SQL databases where I’ve encountered issues. I’ll ask the question: Should SaaS database providers consider dropping support of their own clients in favor of backing Drizzle ORM?
