Kevin Willard will be the next head coach at Villanova, according to a report from ESPN's Jeff Borzello. Willard spent the past three seasons at Maryland, leading the Terrapins to a 65-39 record over that span, including going 27-9 this past season with a trip to the Sweet 16 at the NCAA Tournament. Villanova had been heavily linked to Willard after firing previous head coach Kyle Neptune on March 15.

Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon became the 100th player in NHL history to record 1,000 career points in Monday's 3-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. MacKinnon reached the milestone with an assist on Artturi Lehkonen's third-period goal, which opened the scoring in the game. It looked like MacKinnon had picked up his 1,000th point in the first period with an assist on a Martin Necas tally, but that was overturned on review.

Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras was suspended three games for interference on Detroit Red Wings forward Michael Rasmussen, the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced Monday. Zegras was not assessed a penalty on the play, but the league found he delivered a late, high hit against Rasmussen that made significant head contact causing an injury. Click here to view the hit. Rasmussen was forced to exit the game and did not return. He's considered day-to-day.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman upheld the suspension of Minnesota Wild forward Ryan Hartman but reduced the length from 10 games to eight, the league announced Monday. Hartman was suspended for roughing Senators forward Tim Stutzle during Ottawa's 6-0 win Feb. 1. Hartman was assessed a match penalty for attempt to injure after driving Stutzle's head into the ice during a faceoff at the end of the second period. Hartman was originally assessed a 10-game suspension Feb.

The New York Rangers signed defenseman Will Borgen to a five-year contract extension, the team announced Saturday. The deal carries a $4.1-million average annual value, according to Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today. New York acquired Borgen on Dec. 18 in a trade with the Kraken that sent former No. 2 overall pick Kaapo Kakko to Seattle. The Rangers also received a third- and sixth-round pick in the 2025 draft from the Kraken as part of the deal.

If Canada and Finland game goes to OT on Monday, Sweden could make the 4 Nations final with a regulation win over the U.S. Seems kind of silly a team that wins once and loses twice would get in over a team that wins twice and loses once.

I guess Canada's goaltending doesn't really matter if you're not going to let the other team take any shots.
