    LOUISVILLE – It was all Bullitt East all the time last Wednesday as the girls’ tennis program took all three titles at the Sixth Region Tournament that was played over two and a half weeks at Mercy High School. All three crowns -- singles, doubles and team – were won within a few hours of each other last Wednesday. To top their own success, Bullitt East had both teams in the doubles final. However, the story of the tournament was the coming out party for Bullitt East singles player Natalie Griffin.

    MOUNT WASHINGTON – It was supposed a highly competitive game. Unfortunately, someone forgot to tell that to the Bullitt East Chargers on Thursday before their meeting with North Bullitt in the second round of the Sixth Region Baseball Super Regional. This was the newly proclaimed ‘pod’ final with the winner advancing to the semifinals earlier this week at the University of Louisville’s Patterson Stadium.

    LOUISVILLE – It took two and a half weeks and four years, but Bullitt Central’s number one doubles team for the past four years of senior Jayden Hawkins and junior Tripp O’Brien finally reached the summit on Wednesday and earned their first Sixth Region title after three straight runner-up finishes. When the final point was recorded in the championship match, Hawkins fell to his knees before O’Brien arrived to hug his friend.

    LOUISVILLE – Mother Nature moved the entire Class 3-A, Region 3 Track and Field Championships back a day to Wednesday of last week due to the threat of bad weather. Still, all three Bullitt County high school programs competed and qualified a small contingent of athletes for Saturday’s KHSAA Kentucky State Championships in Lexington at the University of Kentucky. The Class 3-A, Region 3 Championships were held at St. Xavier High School.
