In Agawam’s proposed fiscal year 2026 school budget, there are no new user fees or increases and no layoffs of staff are planned. But the district does face some funding challenges.

WEST SPRINGFIELD — Five West Springfield teachers are among more than 100 teachers in Western Massachusetts who will be recognized for their exceptional teaching skills. AGAWAM — Lauren Cousineau, Jonathan Hagopian, Kim Smith and John Viens got good — but unexpected — news in late February when they were selected for a 2025 Pioneer Valley Excellence in Teaching Award. They were among 60 Agawam teachers nominated for the award for their exceptional teaching skills. They will be formally recognized at an award dinner and banquet May 7 at The Log Cabin in Holyoke.
