Kevin de Bruyne is the only player at Manchester City who was there before Pep Guardiola. He will leave as one of the greatest this club has seen. Friday's new is a shock, but not a surprise. The 33-year-old is out of contract in the summer and after a couple of campaigns in which he has been hit by injury and struggled for form, maybe it is the right time. But it takes nothing away from what he has achieved: six Premier League titles, two FA Cup, five League Cups, one Champions League.

You may have read my comments on Thursday having spoken to Phil Foden after the win over Sparta Prague. He said he was "back" and his manager, Pep Guardiola, is delighted he is. In a season in which City are being hampered by injuries to key players, in a squad that is already small, having the likes of Foden getting back to his best could really help them in this middle third of the season.

Manuel Akanji believes Manchester City will win the title once again, despite making it three Premier League games in a row without beating main rivals Arsenal. The City defender was heavily involved in the 2-2 draw with the 10-man Gunners on Sunday and insisted he had seen nothing to change his opinion on the destiny of this season's trophy. It should be a straightforward news conference for Pep Guardiola later. His team have smoothly started the Premier League with two wins from two. Transfer deadline day will, of course, be on the agenda, although it is my understanding it will be quiet on that front for the Blues - both with ins and outs.
