Norwalk’s baseball and softball games against Oskaloosa on Wednesday were both suspended by thunderstorms in the fourth inning. No completion dates were announced. Both varsity games started at 4:00 p.m. in an attempt to avoid the forecasted rain, which arrived shortly after 5:00. The baseball game was streamed live on kniakrls.com (KNIA3). Oskaloosa scored four runs on one hit in the top of the first and led 5-1 as the Warriors came to bat in the bottom of the fourth.

The Norwalk softball team finished 1-1 at Saturday’s Oskaloosa Indian Classic, dropping a 7-2 decision vs. Wayne and defeating Ottumwa 11-1. The Class 4A 2nd-ranked Warriors are now 22-3 on the season. Against Wayne, Norwalk senior Carly Brewer hit a game-tying two-run triple in the third, but the Class 1A 2nd-ranked Falcons scored five runs in the fifth to break the 2-2 tie. The game ended after five innings due to a time limit. Bailey Birmingham went 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Warriors.

The Norwalk softball team journeyed to Davenport Central on Tuesday and racked up 29 runs and 31 hits in a doubleheader sweep of the Blue Devils. The Class 4A fourth-ranked Warriors won game one 18-7 in six innings and took the night cap 11-2 in five. Norwalk posted crooked numbers in six different innings on the day, including a seven-run second inning, a four-run fifth and a five-run sixth in game one.

The Norwalk baseball and softball teams both defeated Bondurant-Farrar in non-conference action on Monday night. The Warriors won game one of a baseball doubleheader 8-5 while game two was suspended by rain and lightning in the fourth inning with the score tied 1-1. Norwalk topped the Bluejays in softball 1-0. BaseballThe Warrior baseball team improved to 9-8 overall in a game that saw both sides commit at least three errors.
