Abaan won the 84th Iroquois Steeplechase, defeating three-time winner Snap Decision. Several horses and jockeys fell during the race, but Abaan and Snap Decision avoided the chaos. Snap Decision ran past trouble in his quest to make history in the Calvin Houghland Iroquois Steeplechase on May 10, but was unable to beat Abaan to the finish line in the Grade I stakes race at Percy Warner Park.

Snap Decision, an 11-year-old gelding, could become the first four-time winner of the Iroquois Steeplechase. He is coming off a recent win at The Temple Gwathmey, his third straight victory in that race. Snap Decision won the Iroquois Steeplechase in 2021, 2022, and 2024. History can be made at the Iroquois Steeplechase for the second straight year with Snap Decision, an 11-year-old gelding, on the brink of becoming the winningest horse in the event's 84-year history.
