BATAVIA — The first quarterly meeting of the GOW CARES Alliance, formerly known as the GOW Opioid Task Force, has illustrated the value of community partnerships in improving people’s health and well-being. About 90 people, representing several human services’ agencies in Genesee, Orleans and Wyoming counties, attended the two-hour event hosted April 1 by Grace Baptist Church in Batavia. It was the first large public gathering of the coalition since the COVID pandemic hit in early 2020.

Scott Culp of Honeoye Falls, one of the most prolific bowlers in Western New York over the past 20 years, and Darwin “Auggie” Dale of Piffard, a standout in the former Perry Bowling Association in the 1990s and early 2000s, will be inducted into the Genesee Region USBC Hall of Fame at the association’s annual banquet next month. Culp is being enshrined in the Outstanding Achievement category while Dale is entering in the Outstanding Achievement, Veteran category.

LE ROY — As a member of the Le Roy Republican Committee, Laurie Mancuso was at the February meeting of the Genesee County Republican Committee that voted to not endorse either incumbent Rochelle Stein nor Dr. George Vito for the District 9 seat on the Genesee County Legislature. Mancuso, a resident of the Village of Le Roy, said it wasn’t long afterward when she decided to enter the race for the legislature position that represents the Town of Le Roy.
