With 2.8 seconds left of their game against the Houston Rockets, the Cleveland Cavaliers seemed fated to complete a furious fourth-quarter rally Wednesday at Toyota Center. With the Cavaliers down two points, Darius Garland, their potential All-Star guard and 90 percent free-throw shooter, sat alone at the free-throw line with three chances to give Cleveland the lead. Even if he failed, Cleveland would have the ball with a chance to seal the game.

The Hornets will also receive three second-round picks from Phoenix — one in 2026 and two in 2031 — while sending back one in return: the least favorable 2025 second-rounder between the Philadelphia 76ers and Denver Nuggets. ESPN was first to report the news. The addition of Richards, 27, will add a new wrinkle to a Suns frontcourt currently in flux. The fifth-year big man is averaging 8.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game in 21 minutes per contest.

Not a fan of this at all. A better idea: Extend the 3-second violation to the corners. Keep the 3-point arc, but don't allow players to stand in the corner for more than three seconds at a time.
