During Microsoft's 50th anniversary event, the company announced several updates to its AI Copilot, aimed at making it more functional, personalized, and available across a wider range of platforms. Afterwards, Microsoft set up several stations for us to try various aspects of all the new things Copilot can do, from podcasting to shopping to personalization (if you want Copilot to look like Clippy, you can now do that). I'm not sure how I first came across "The Accountant" — it might have been on a plane ride or while I was aimlessly channel surfing — but it instantly became one of those movies that I just had to stop and watch every time I happened upon it. In it, Ben Affleck stars as a genius accountant who's on the spectrum, but who also has a Certain Set of Skills which he puts to good use when he digs too deep into the company he's auditing.

The Nest Protect has long stood at the top of our list of the best smart smoke detectors, but its reign is at an end. Google today announced that it's ending sales of the venerable product, and partnering with First Alert for a smart smoke detector that will work with Google Home. Along with the Nest thermostat and Drop Cam, the Protect was one of the original products made by Nest, before it was acquired by Google.

Twitter's X rebrand is underway at its San Francisco headquarters. The co. is projecting the X logo in the cafeteria and changed conference room names to words and phrases with the letter X in them.
