Salt Flats - Open Road Series (Barrel-aged Grand Cru): The term "Grand Cru" in beer parlance generally refers to beers of Belgian influence (though not always) that are stronger, richer, more intense versions of an existing beer. This beer's patient maturation in freshly-emptied Bourbon whiskey barrels from Salt Flats Spirits certainly presents it as a beer of distinction.

Offset - Aus Cascade: Created in 1972 by combining English Fuggle and Russian Serebrianka hops, the Cascade varietal was definitely a workhorse in American craft beer. If you've been drinking IPAs and pale ales from the 1990s and on to today, you're probably quite familiar with them. Cascades are also grown throughout the globe, but changes in climate and soil tend to alter the hop's character a bit.

Shades - Pineapple Upside Down Cake: Buckle up for a tropical twist from the makers of some of Utah's most intriguing beers. As the name denotes, this is a take on the classic pineapple upside-down cake. Shades' Pineapple Upside Down Cake ale pours a hazy, golden hue, capped by a surprisingly persistent off-white foam that eventually settles, leaving delicate rings of lacing.

Offset - Nothing But Lasers: Nothing But Lasers is a mashup of Offset's Laser Kiwi and All Black Nothing IPAs. It features a salad of New Zealand hops— Waimea, Nelson Cryo, and Riwaka, followed by a massive dry hop of Nelson, NZ Cascade, Nectaron, and more Riwaka. I poured my 16-ounce can into a standard shaker, resulting in a well-hazed, nectarine-yellow body and a thick, frothy and creamy-white head.

In April of this year, Monster Energy Beverages announced that they would be shutting down their operations in Utah, citing that they were opting to "not renew the property lease" on one of Utah's largest and longest-operating breweries, the Wasatch-Squatter Brewery at 1763 S. 300 West in Salt Lake City. This leaves a lot of people scratching their heads, as the Wasatch and Squatters Brands adorn many restaurants and bars around northern Utah.
