As lawmakers figure out how to get approval for regulations on artificial intelligence, Congress is looking to step in and stop the effort. The Congressional budget vote would impose a 10-year moratorium on state laws on AI. The provision is in the bill that cleared the U.S. House of Representatives and is awaiting a vote in the Senate. It also comes after an expansive bill regulating AI in Connecticut stalled in the legislature for the second straight year.

Gas prices have jumped over the last week, but experts say there's a reason the summer rise is happening earlier than usual. University of New Haven professor John Mohs said the war between Israel and Iran has caused both gas and oil prices to rise. Oil prices quickly came back down. Mohs said that's because of a belief that Iran won't follow through on its threat to close the Strait of Hormuz. "Think about it, China gets between 40 and 50% of their oil through there," he said.

Gov. Ned Lamont vetoed a sweeping housing bill on Monday, saying he wants more time to work with municipalities to address their concerns. It's one of two controversial bills Lamont (D-Connecticut) vetoed. He also blocked legislation to give unemployment compensation to striking workers. "A veto doesn't mean dead stop," he said from his capitol office.
