Catholic Cardinals will soon meet to elect a new pope following the death of Pope Francis. The Vatican announced Monday that Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church, had passed away at age 88. Following his funeral, the College of Cardinals will enter a conclave to elect the next pontiff. The conclave usually begins 15 to 20 days after the pope’s death or resignation. As tributes pour in for the late pope, two African cardinals have been named as potential candidates to succeed him.

Ja Rule fulfilled his promise to build a new school building in Ghana on Monday. In April 2024, he broke ground for the construction of a classroom block for the St. John’s Anglican Basic School in Nuaso in the Eastern Region of the country. The building of the classroom block was in partnership with Pencils of Promise, a U.S. non-profit organization that seeks to create a better world through education, building schools, and WASH programs.

Larissa Camp’s life changed forever after she lost part of her hand to a close-range gunshot. “I put my hand directly in front of the gun,” Camp recalled to 11Alive. “And I hear a loud bang, I see smoke, my ears are ringing.”“The second bullet goes through my arm, and through some layers of skin on my chest and through the door,” she said, recounting how she survived intimate partner violence in 2004. Despite losing all of the fingers on her right hand, she is thankful to be alive.

When Extasy James was three years old, her father was deported to his home country in Jamaica due to several charges related to cannabis. “It impacted me greatly – my mother has four children, and I’m the oldest, so I stepped up,” James told The Story Exchange. James’ family were among several victims of America’s war on drugs which negatively impacted people who were arrested and tried for drug-related charges as well as their families.
