MethodsThe study included patients aged ≥18 years, who were hospitalised with COVID-19 and met the clinical status of grade 3 (hospitalised; mild disease, no oxygen therapy), 4 (hospitalised; oxygen by mask or nasal prongs) or 5 (hospitalised; non-invasive ventilation or high-flow oxygen) of the World Health Organization Working Group on the Clinical Characteristics of COVID-19 9-point ordinal scale (OS) 2020, as per the study protocol [21]. All patients provided written informed consent.
