The Easter weekend is great, isn’t it? Schools are off, work slows down and there’s a four-day weekend to lean into. I was lucky enough to spend this year’s with the Ferrari Roma Spider. I’ll put my cards on the table early here: I’m a big fan of Ferrari’s modern GT. In coupe form, it offers the poise and performance you’d expect, with enough luxury to make it – if you’re lucky enough – into a daily driver. Surely chopping the roof of wouldn’t compromise the experience, but would only elevate it?

There’s a certain amount of satisfaction to be taken from something simply yet emphatically meeting expectations. A cold drink on a summer’s day, a good meal with friends, the Bentley Bentayga EWB. It may sound like I’m damning it with faint praise in saying that it meets expectations, but this is a Bentley. Expectations for the Bentayga EWB – extended wheelbase – were lofty to say the least. This is now Bentley’s flagship model, having replaced the Mulsanne which ceased production in 2020.

If the looks don’t get you, the experience will. It’s as if the engineers at Audi, given the freedom of a last hurrah and a substantial budget befitting of a departing legend, gave one final flex to send the RS6 out as king of the fast estates. Others have cropped up in recent times; pretenders to the throne? With the Audi RS6 GT, the team at Ingolstadt can at least sit back safe in the knowledge that they did all they could.
