A Switchable Red Emitting Fluorophore Involving a 7.6.6 Defect An acridine unit entangled into a macrocyclic derivative forms a very efficient fluorophore decorated with the confinements of 7.6.6 defect. The designed and unoccupied interal cavity observed for significantly rigidified environment changes the optical properties acting as a switch between two, on and off states.
