GIBSON CITY — During a special meeting on Monday, June 2, the Gibson City Council met in closed session to discuss the employment, compensation or performance of city employees, approved an upgrade of city software, made payroll adjustments and decided on the locations of 10 decorative planters. The topic of the executive session, which took almost an hour to complete, was not further discussed after the council returned to open session.

GIBSON CITY — Gibson City has hired a new superintendent of wastewater and drainage to replace Brad Duncan, who resigned on March 11 to take a position in Pontiac. The Gibson City council voted 7-0 on Monday night to hire John Bobera, a resident of Manteno, to fill Duncan’s position. Bobera will start his new job on Tuesday, April 8, at an annual salary of $92,000, which includes health insurance and four weeks of paid vacation, among other benefits.
