AbstractSome cases of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) require surgical treatment and postoperative nasal packing, but bleeding and adhesion are common complications after nasal surgery. Biodegradable drug-loaded implants hold great therapeutic options for the treatment of CRS, but little data are available regarding the safety and efficacy of a novel drug-loaded haemostatic sponge (DLHS) in the sinus. The aim of this study was to investigate the safety and efficacy of DLHS in the sinus.

We investigate the plasmonic properties of laser-printed chalcogenide phase-change material In3SeTb2 (IST) antennas through near-field nanoimaging. Antennas of varying lengths were fabricated by laser switching an amorphous IST film into its crystalline metallic state. Near-field imaging elucidates the pronounced field confinement and enhancement at the antenna extremities along with the emergence of different ordered plasmonic modes with increasing length.

Abstract:In this study, a three-dimensional internal wave (IW)—cylinder—terrain coupled numerical model is established. Based on the large-eddy simulation (LES) method, the IW mechanical characteristics of the cylinder and the flow field evolution around the cylinder over different types of terrains are explored. The similarities and differences in the mechanical characteristics of the cylinders in the environments with and without terrains are compared.
