I did my first bodyweight workout for beginners at 44 years old, after years of sidestepping the weight machines at the gym in favour of the treadmill. I've always been nervous about lifting weights, very uncertain about what to do (and how to do it). But since turning 40, I've been flooded with advice on strength training for women going through menopause, and almost bombarded with information about how important it is to do weighted workouts during this life stage.

Kefir is one of those foods you might have walked past in the supermarket a thousand times over the years, without glancing at it twice. However, the rise in gut health interest has pushed this ancient drink, once only the go-to for true digestion devotees, into the mainstream. Now, more people than ever want to learn how to improve their gut health. I'm one of them.

This month marks the biggest celebration in the Sikh calendar, Vaisakhi. It's the festival which celebrates the founding of the Sikh community the Khalsa in 1699. Khalsa is a collective of committed Sikhs who are the leaders and protectors of the Sikhs and was created to fight oppression and uphold freedom. Vaisakhi to me is about selfless service and giving back which, for me, links back to my role as carer to my mum who has a myeloma, a rare blood cancer.

THOUSANDS of Sikhs will come together across the UK to celebrate Vaisakhi next Monday (14) through colourful Nagar Kirtans. This year’s festivities are especially meaningful, marking five years since the Covid pandemic disrupted events and gatherings, including Vaisakhi. Vaisakhi marks the birth of the Sikh faith, the Khalsa, a collective of committed Sikhs who are leaders and defenders of the Sikh way and it is one of the biggest celebrations for the community.

It’s #MyelomaAwarenessWeek I want to highlight a remarkable woman who’s an inspiration my mum. She’s been through a very difficult time and it doesn’t get easier, but she smiles through it. Never does she question why she is living with myeloma, she accepts it. A tough cookie 🍪 https://t.co/mFw1PC4Cjq
