Ericsson and 3 Denmark trial live sports broadcast over 5G standalone

A high-profile football match was broadcast at Danish Parken Stadium. The trial utilised 5G mmWave on a 5G standalone network. New Radio-Dual Connectivity (NR-DC) combined 20 MHz of bandwidth in the 3.5 GHz band and 800 MHz in the 26 GHz band. Ericsson and 3 Denmark partnered with broadcaster TV2 and Sony for the trial. using four 5G broadcast cameras and one drone camera to capture the live footage.
DT makes 5G mmWave available for industrial customers

The 26 GHz band is available for commercial use for the first time in Germany. The 5G campus network set up for automation company Ger4tech Mechatronik supports both 3.7 GHz and 26 GHz bands. Deutsche Telekom said the mmWave band would enable low latency and download speed of 4 Gbps, with upload speed of 2 Gbps.

The new 3GPP Immersive Voice and Audio Services codec is part of the upcoming 5G Advanced standard. The call was made with a regular smartphone over a public 5G network between Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark and Stefan Lindström, Finland’s Ambassador of Digitalization and New Technologies. The Immersive Voice and Audio Services (IVAS) codec enables a spatial “surround” sound, which is expected to have uses in enhancing extended reality experiences.

Telecom operator Elisa used 5G network to broadcast the Jukola Relay race to the public. The orienteering relay race took place in Kauhava, Finland, with runners navigating through a forest race course from checkpoint to checkpoint.
