The girlfriend of an abseiler who fell to his death at Belmore Falls earlier this week has set up a Go Fund Me Page to help with repatriation costs. 28 year old Jeisson Leon is a Colombian National who was residing in Mascot. His body will be cremated, with the ashes to be sent back to his homeland.

An elderly man has been killed in an alleged hit and run at Goulburn. The 80 year old was found lying on Middle Arm Road on Monday night and Police say his injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, he died at the scene.

Jervis Bay artist Akira Kamada has been named the Outdoor winner at Arts in the ValleyHe won $20,000 for his entry titled ” Birth ” which is a suspended husk of interwoven natural and industrial materials. Judges Janet Lawrence and Michael Snape described the work as simultaneously physically present but also ephemeral.
Abseiler killed at Belmore Falls

A man has died after falling down a cliff while abseiling at Belmore Falls. Emergency Services were called to Belmore Falls Road about 4pm yesterday. Officers from the Hume Police District found a man aged in his 20’s had fallen while trying to abseil down a cliff.

More than a hundred sculptures will be on display at Sculpture in the Valley in Barrengarry. The festival will be launched at Wilburra Estate tomorrow at 11am by Midnight Oil frontman Peter Garrett, followed by a performance from the Scots College Jazz Combo. Organiser Natalie Harker said they have an incredible group of artists.
Name change for Balmoral

The town of Balmoral in the northern villages is set for a name change. From September 25, it’ll be known as Balmoral Village, to stop any confusion with the other Balmorals in NSW. Paul Mallia from the Village Association said there’s been an extensive consultation process.
