WAUSAU, Wis. (WJFW) — A 26-year-old male inmate at the Marathon County Jail died Sunday following a suicide attempt that occurred on June 1. According to a news release from Marathon County Sheriff's Office, the inmate was transported to a local hospital and remained under medical care until his death a week later. The incident occurred June 1 when other inmates alerted correctional staff to an unresponsive man in one of the housing units, the release said.

ATHENS, Wis. (WJFW) — The Edgar Wildcats rolled through their WIAA Division 4 sectional at Tucker Westfall Memorial Field in Athens and clinched a trip to the WIAA State Baseball Tournament next week. The Wildcats' trio of pitchers - Jase Apfelbeck, Leyton Schuett and Lucas Stahnke - combined to surrender just one run on the day as Edgar downed Rib Lake 8-1 in the semifinal and thumped Solon Springs/Northwood 14-1 in the sectional final.

WAUSAU, Wis. (WJFW) — An unidentified World War I soldier was exhumed from Pine Grove Cemetery in Wausau on Friday in hopes of finding a DNA identification. The Marathon County Medical Examiner completed the exhumation of the soldier Friday. The body of the soldier was originally discovered in 1930, when he had died by suicide in the Rothschild area of Marathon County, according to a Marathon County news release.

TOWN OF CASSIAN, Wis. (WJFW) — A woman was arrested for 8th-offense OWI Monday after an Oneida County crash where she ran a stop sign, resulting in a two-car crash and four people being injured, including the woman's 4-year-old passenger. According to an Oneida County Sheriff's Office release, just after 4:10 p.m. Monday, the sheriff's office received multiple calls for a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of County Highway K and Harshaw Road in the town of Cassian.

MINOCQUA, Wis. (WJFW) — The 62-year-old driver who died in a rollover crash in Minocqua Thursday has been identified as Richard Mastaglio, of Minocqua. Just before 11 a.m. Thursday, the Minocqua Police Department responded to a one-vehicle rollover crash on Highway 51 near Timber Ridge Road, according to a Minocqua PD news release. The release said, the vehicle was going north and went into the east ditch on Highway 51, hit a culvert and flipped over.
