The remains are believed to be of missing journalist Sibusiso “Aserie” Ndlovu and his partner, Zodwa Precious Mdhluli. The couple had been missing since February 18. The discovery of the remains follows the arrests of five suspects who led the police to the veld following a questioning session. Speaking to SABC News, Sibiya said police have been hard at work to find the missing couple.

As of May 2, the Gauteng Province has 252,745 cards that need to be printed, followed by KwaZulu-Natal at 115,200, Western Cape at 108,402, Mpumalanga at 66,833, Limpopo at 61,769, Eastern Cape at 55,393, North West at 39,983, Free State at 33,741 and the Northern Cape at 13,862.

The officers were part of the VIP Protection Unit of Deputy President Paul Mashatile and were caught on camera assaulting a civilian next to the N1 in Johannesburg in July 2023. Popcru spokesperson Richard Mamabolo says the officers' acquittal reaffirms the union's belief in the principle of due process.
