Deputy Minister for Health, Dr Joe Phaahla says many of their facilities across the country are not fully compliant with fire safety requirements. Phaahla said this during a media briefing while visiting Tembisa Hospital on Wednesday, after the hospital encountered two separate fire incidents within four days. He says facilities are not compliant mainly because they were built more than 40 years ago when some of the Occupational Health and Safety requirements were not enforced.

The South African Social Security Agency has strengthened the capacity of their risk and compliance unit as part of their anti-fraud management strategy that has been introduced to curb fraudulent activity committed by its workers. That’s according to SASSA’s acting CEO Themba Matlou, who during last night’s engagement with the media in Polokwane revealed that they have declared fraud investigation as a flagship project at SASSA, together with law enforcement.

The Limpopo Department of Social Development has budgeted R210.4 million the 2025/2026 financial year for funding specialised stimulation centres or facilities designed to support individuals with disabilities. That’s according to MEC Florence Radzilani who presented her department’s R2.2 billion budget vote at the Limpopo Legislature in Lebowakgomo on Thursday.

The School Governing Body Federation in Limpopo says it is a common occurrence for teachers that are accused of sexual misconduct against learners to resign because they are attempting to preserve their retirement benefits. This after the Limpopo department of education indicated it has received a resignation letter from the 58-year-old teacher accused of raping a 13-year-old learner at a primary school in Makotopong outside Mankweng.
