1. IntroductionIn recent years, shape memory polymers and their composites (SMPs/SMPCs) have attracted substantial attention due to ease of processing, lightweight properties and low cost compared to their metallic counterparts, namely shape memory alloys. SMPs are materials that can recover from temporarily induced deformations to their original shape. Most SMPs are chemically crosslinked (thermosets) or physically crosslinked (thermoplastics).
