    KURRAM / PESHAWAR: As the Kurram peace accord moves towards implementation, the district administration has started a survey in the Balish Khel and Khar Killay areas of Lower Kurram to demolish bunkers used in months-long violence that engulfed the tribal district. The demolition drive was slated for Sunday as per a letter issued by Kurram District Commissioner Ashfaq Khan on Saturday, in which the administration had sought “staff along with necessary tools” to complete the process.

    PESHAWAR: A full-house Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly committee on Tuesday decided to constitute a sub-committee for the implementation of a 27-point charter of demands presented by the Pashtun Qaumi Jirga for peace and development in the tribal region. The committee met in the main hall of the assembly, with Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in the chair and around 45 lawmakers from the treasury and opposition benches in attendance.

    PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said here on Monday that they were not ready to accept any interference of government in the affairs of religious seminaries. Addressing a huge public meeting, he said that the status of religious seminaries would remain autonomous. “We will give two or three weeks time to government to mend its ways and don’t impose its decision on us regarding religious seminaries otherwise we will react,” he said.
