The Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency (KSPWA) has disclosed that another round of refunds for those who participated in the 2023 Hajj exercise will commence this week. A statement signed by the agency’s spokesman, Yunusa Muhammad Abdullahi, said KSPWA has already paid over 3,000 pilgrims of the 2023 Hajj refunds which it received from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

The Kaduna State Police Command has rescued 23 kidnapped victims from bandits in the Kajuru Forest, located in Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State. A statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, on Sunday said the rescue operation took place on February 2, 2025. He said the operation was triggered after security operatives received credible intelligence regarding the movement of armed bandits in the area.

According to him, the region is plagued by poverty, insecurity, and corruption. A 20-year-old groom-to-be, Kabiru Osamatu, from Galadimawa village in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has been arrested for allegedly killing his older brother over debt. According to the suspect, the deceased, his biological brother, refused to repay a debt owed him. Kabiru, who was paraded by the State Police Command, confessed to having stabbed his brother in the neck with a knife while they were riding on the same motorcycle near Galadima River.

Over 600,000 residents of Kaduna State have been registered under the State Contributory Health Management Authority (KADCHMA) scheme. The registered residents hail from the 23 Local Government Areas of the state, ànd are from both the formal and informal sectors. The representative of the Director-General of KADCHMA, Ibrahim Alimi Mohammed, disclosed the figure during Alhaji Adamu Kabir Umar’s Welfare Health Programme on Insurance Coverage.
