Meta’s answer to Twitter, a new platform called Threads set to launch this week, will not be available in the EU for the time being, regulators have said, citing the need for more legal clarity. Threads has been promoted as an alternative to Elon Musk’s embattled Twitter and is scheduled for widespread release on app stores around the world this Thursday (6 July). It will not, however, be offered to EU users, pending more information about how it will comply with European laws.
