    An Animal welfare group has called for an "amnesty" for XL bully dogs rather than a ban on the breed, which is due to come into effect next month. Dozens of campaigners, alongside their dogs, gathered by Stephen's Green in Dublin to protest the upcoming ban. The legislation was introduced by Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphreys in July, following a series of dog attacks.

    With fraud on the rise in Ireland, including a 76% increase in investment fraud so far this year, Bank of Ireland have outlined a plan which they believe will better protect consumers. Included in this plan is the introduction of an SMS scam filter. When a fraudulent message is sent, the scammer often pretends to be from a business or organisation with a large consumer base. Fake texts from delivery companies, banks and postal services are among some of the more common scams.

    The Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) has issued an appeal for an additional 2,000 blood donations over the next four weeks to help the national blood supply, as some blood groups have fallen to less than three days of stock. The Director of Donor Services and Logistics, Paul McKinney, said that while the aim is to have seven days worth of supply, current levels, including O negative and B negative, are at just two days of supply.
